Quantum Break is another platform exclusive game that I want to play next year, on Xbox One this time, and it seems that games are getting at a new level because what this game does is pretty much innovative. I never imagined a game that would combine gameplay with a TV show, I mean I’ve seen cutscenes before and cinematic games that want to tell a story by focusing more on cutscenes rather than gameplay. But this game goes to another level by combining gameplay with a real live series that tells you the story from another perspective. You will be playing as Jack Joyce, a guy that got time manipulating powers during one time travel experiment, and he is portrayed by Shawn Ashmore, or maybe you will recognise him easier if I say that Jack is played by The Ice Man from the X-Men movies.
The live series has the purpose of telling you the story from the enemy’s side, and the main villain is Paul Serene, the founder and leader of Monarch Solutions, a evil organization that deals with time travelling too and wants to change the future because Paul has been involved in the time travel experiment as well and now he’s able to see into the future. So he wants to change the present day in order to make his own future. And Paul is played Aidan Gillen, which you might also rather know as Littlefinger from Game of Thrones, a great actor too! Check out the awesome trailer for Quantum Break that was revealed during the Game Awards this year:
So? What do you think? Is this game going to be as good as it looks? I think that Uncharted 4 has finally got a worthy competitor for the battle of the platform exclusive hero! Check out this other clip from Xbox Daily where the game’s director Sam Lake and the main star of the game, Shawn Ashmore, talk more about the game:
